We're honored to welcome Sandra Gutierrez as our guest chef speaker — a nationally recognized expert on Southern Regional and Latin American cuisines, food historian, author, and educator. Sandra’s work centers food as a vessel for memory, culture, and identity, making her a powerful voice for this year’s gathering.
A Living Document. Written Together, Belonging to All:
In 2025 we made a bold choice: to write the story of Black American slavery into our collaborative Haggadah. This year we continue by honoring the latino experience. Each gathering expands the story - adding voices, cultures and lived truths - creating a shared legacy that belongs to all of us and generations to come.
Challah and Soul’s second annual Soulful Seder is more than an event - it’s a celebration of an extraordinary alliance between jewish and Latin communities. Together, we’ll share stories of survival and strength, gather around food that bridges traditions, and serve history the way it was meant to be: with heart humanity and connection.
We're a community-based, justice-centered nonprofit rooted in Black–Jewish partnership. Through food, storytelling, and education, we create spaces where trust gets rebuilt—shared meals, real conversations, learning experiences that strengthen relationships across communities.
Rising antisemitism and anti-Black racism are straining historic ties between our communities. Challah & Soul responds by gathering people at tables where hate loses its power and trust comes back, locally and personally.
Food is our tool because it works. It's a cultural connector that lowers barriers, invites everyone in, and creates the conditions for honest conversation. At our tables, meaningful connection isn't just possible—it's inevitable.
When we come together, participate, and create together, something powerful happens.

We envision communities across the country hosting their own Challah & Soul gatherings, regional celebrations, and town halls — creating a national movement where honest conversation, shared meals, and healing happen at the local level, everywhere.
Build the next generation of bridge-builders.
We invest in the storytellers who share our histories, spotlight minority-owned businesses that strengthen our communities, and create opportunities for Black and Jewish chefs to celebrate the culinary traditions born from resilience and faith.
Take this work nationwide.
We're working toward educational programs from kindergarten through college, storytelling initiatives that ensure new generations learn from history, and partnerships with schools to create policies that actively counter racism and antisemitism.
Amplifying voices and supporting communities.
Thank you to the generous individuals and organizations who make Soulful Seder possible!
